Formula — GEICO 17c Method
The 17c formula is the most widely used method for calculating diminished value in insurance claims:
- Base Loss of Value = Pre-Accident Market Value × 10%
- After Damage Multiplier = Base Loss × Damage Severity Multiplier
- Diminished Value = Step 2 Result × Mileage Multiplier
